Spring is almost here and with it comes the perfect opportunity to get outside with your family to enjoy the warmer weather. Going to the park is a great family activity and it allows your children to burn some energy. Jacksonville offers many public parks for your family to enjoy. Take a look at this family-friendly park guide to help you plan your next visit.

Dupree Park – 1 Park Street

Dupree Park is the heart of outdoor recreation in the city. This park includes a 10-acre lake for fishing, a 1.3-mile walking trail, a playground and an enclosed off-leash dog park.

Other features include a sports complex with six softball, two baseball and four soccer fields. If you enjoy Frisbee-golf, check out the exciting 18-hole course that is featured throughout the park.

Excell Park – 1500 Ray Road 1500 Ray Road

This park features lighted and fenced youth baseball fields, a playground and a nice open field for children to play. Bring your lunch and enjoy the designated picnic area.

Fireman Park – 1 Boys Club Drive

Visit the spacious pavilion at this park and while you are here check out the large playground and three multi-purpose courts. The Boys and Girls Club facility is also located at this park.

Galloway Park – 1 Galloway Circle

If you are looking for the perfect place for a pick-up game of basketball, challenge your friends on the park’s featured basketball court. Other features include a playground, picnic tables, a covered pavilion and a grill for afternoon cookouts. 

Jimmie White Park – 115 Cheyenne

Come experience the surrounding nature at this park that features a walking trail with two bridges, a pond for fishing and a swing set for the children.

Johnson Park – 1100 Goshen St.

This park has all the features your family needs. With several pavilions, a basketball court and playground, picnic tables including one covered table and a grill for cooking out. End your day with a game of horseshoes the whole family can enjoy.

Northlake Park – 1 Tennis Court

This park is perfect for a quick afternoon playtime for the kids and features a playground, basketball court and a pavilion for the parents to rest.

Paradise Park – 1 Paradise Park Road
This park truly is a paradise that features two fishing piers, a paved wildlife observation trail and picnic tables.

Pleasure Park - 201 W. Martin Street

Come have some fun in the sun at this park that features a Splash Zone and playground. Feel free to use the pavilion as shade from the sun during break time. You will also find the Martin Street Recreation Center located at this park.

Skate Park – 5 Municipal Drive
If your kids are into skateboarding, this park is the place to go. It features two skateboard ramps and is next to the Community Center.

Stagecoach Park – 112 Wells Fargo Trail

If you are looking for some peace and quiet, check out this park that features a covered picnic table and playground.

Stonewall Park – 100 Berkshire Drive

If you want to go for a quick run, this park features a half-mile walking/jogging trail. Other features include a playground, covered benches and a pavilion.
