Football season has started and the weather is getting cooler. This is the time of year many families will venture outside to enjoy the wonderful fall festivals across Arkansas.
Every fall, thousands of visitors attend FestiVille, Jacksonville’s largest and most anticipated annual event. This year, the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation department, along with other community organizations, will host the fifth annual FestiVille Sept. 29-30 at Dupree Park. The two-day city festival is free to the public and features activities for the whole family.
With so many festivals across the state, what makes FestiVille stand out? Below is a list of activities you should try at FestiVille this year.
-
Auto Show. If you like antique cars, this is the place to be. Come take a walk down memory lane, as you explore the classic cars on hand for your viewing pleasure. The car owners will be on hand to talk with you about the wonderful craftsmanship of the cars.
-
5K Run. Come enjoy the wind in your hair as you run an exciting 5K race that starts in Jacksonville’s Dupree Park. For those wanting to try a slower pace, walking is acceptable.
This race benefits Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, an organization that helps fight the muscular disease Duchenne. Start time for the race is 7:30 a.m. For more information and to register, visit their website. -
Petting Zoo. Do your children enjoy holding live animals? If so, this is the perfect place to let them interact with some adorable creatures. They will get the opportunity to get an up-close view as they pet and play with the animals.
- Entertainment. This year, FestiVille will provide more opportunities for entertainment than it did last year. The festival will feature carnival rides, games, live music acts, food trucks, vendor booths, a kids area and so much more. Take your time and don’t miss out on all the wonderful entertainment that is available at this year’s Festiville.
