On May 25th, 2012 President Barack Obama proclaimed May 28th 2012, through November 11th 2025, as the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. Come to remember, honor and “Welcome Home” our Vietnam Veterans, Saturday, April 28th, 2018 at the Jacksonville Museum of Military History.
Schedule of Events
10:00am - 5:00pm: Museum open at no charge to the public
- 8ft x 12ft vinyl map of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia for veterans and Gold Star Families to sign. Map is displayed in our Vietnam Exhibit.
- Vietnam exhibits and displays including “From Arkansas to The Silver Field of Vietnam” (a dog tag exhibit honoring Arkansans killed in Vietnam sponsored in part by the U.S. Army).
- Live Music
- Veterans Service Organizations are invited to have a booth (no charge).
12:00pm – 2:00pm: Special showing of the film, “We Were Soldiers”
*There is no charge for the movie but seating is limited.
3:00pm - 4:00pm: Honor & Remembrance Ceremony
- POW/ MIA Table Ceremony performed by LRAFB Honor Guard
- Music performed by CAVHS Chorale and Linda Morgan
- Guest Speaker James Stats (Former Owner of Golden Corral & Vietnam Veteran)
Following ceremony, Dinner on the Grounds
- Catered by N&N
- No charge to Vietnam Veterans, but must register in advance
- $12.00 charge for non Vietnam Veterans
