Keep Jacksonville Beautiful has set its annual citywide cleanup for Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 12 Noon.
Volunteers are needed to pick up litter along roadways and trails, paint, rake, plant flowers, trim overgrown brush/shrubs, and minor repairs. Most materials and tools will be furnished, however we ask you to bring gloves and if you have tools you can bring, we encourage to do so.
The event is sponsored by the City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Arkansas Beautiful and will be held in conjunction with the national Great American Cleanup during Keep Arkansas Beautiful campaigns.
All residents, civic groups, scouting groups, youth groups, church groups, community businesses, neighborhood groups, community service groups, military groups and concerned individuals are encouraged to participate. Signup is encouraged for groups, but individuals and the “buddy system” will also be accepted.
Other activities of the cleanup includes a free hazardous waste collection drop-off point for electronics and household hazardous waste such as flammable liquids, motor oil, antifreeze, 4’ or smaller fluorescent bulbs, insecticides, herbicides and fertilizers. Recyclables such as plastic bottles, newspaper, cardboard boxes, aluminum cans and scrap metals will also be accepted, as well as bulky household items such as furniture, tires and auto batteries. Items can be taken to 1300 Marshall Road on May 5, from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
